2006-2007

 

9/6/07 The Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners announces that it has made provisional Construction Grant awards to Dudley and Mashpee, the first two libraries on the waiting list. Auburn moves up to number one on the waiting list.

4/24/2007 Advertising for volunteers for the new Library Building Committee begins.

4/23/2007 The Board of Selectmen, at the request of the Board of Library Trustees, vote to establish a Library Building Committee.

4/2007 The Committee on Tourism, Arts and Cultural Development voted to combine Representative Turkington’s House Bill 3919 and Senator Joyce’s Senate Bill 2003 to form Senate Bill 2176, which would provide $100M to fund the Public Library Construction Grants on the waiting list, with a 15% increase in the amount of the grants.  Senate Bill 2176 is now being studied by the Senate Ways and Means Committee.

1/2007 Senator Augustus and Representative Frost agree to be sponsors of the bill filed by Representative Turkington.

1/3/2007 Representative Eric Turkington agrees to file a new Public Library Construction bill for $100 million to fund public library Construction Grants on the waiting list.

12/2006 Legislature adjourns without voting on Capital Bond Bill, which includes $72 million to fund public library Construction Grants on the waiting list. Auburn’s project is number three on the waiting list.

11/3/2006 The Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners announces that it has made provisional Construction Grant awards to the first three libraries on the waiting list. The third Grant is a partial award to Dudley. The balance of Dudley’s award is number one on the waiting list. Auburn moves up to number three on the waiting list.

9/5/2006 Governor Romney called the House and Senate back into session to vote on his Capital Bond Bill, which includes $72 million to fund public library Construction Grants on the waiting list. Auburn’s project is number five on the waiting list.

7/31/2006 The State House and Senate recessed without voting on the Governor’s Capital Bond Bill, which includes $72 million to fund public library Construction Grants on the waiting list. Auburn’s project is number five on the waiting list.

5/9/2006 The Committee on Bonding conducted a hearing on the Governor’s House Bill 3842 and Senator Brian Joyce’s Senate Bill 1841, which contain $72 and $75 million dollars to fund public library Construction Grants on the waiting list.

4/6/2006 The Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners approved the remainder of the Construction Grant funds for the Cambridge Public Library. This action removed Cambridge from the number one position on the waiting list and moved Auburn up to the number five position.
