Coretta Scott King Award - Given to African American authors and illustrators for outstanding inspiration and educationl contributions.

 

Edgar Allan Poe Award - Given by the Myster Writers of Ameica for outstanding contributions to mystery, crime and suspense writing. (This link only gives the current winner - scroll down for young adult winner).

 

Margaret A Edwards Award - Honors a specific author for his/her lifetime contribution to young adult literature.  While the award is given to the author for lifetime works, it also single out specific works for special recognition.

 

Michael L Printz Award - Given to a book that exemplifies literary excellence in yound adult literature.

 

Newbery Award Winners - Awarded annually for the most distinguished American children's book published the previous year.

 

Rhode Island Teen Book Award - This award is selected by RI Teens (ages 12-18) from a list of book nominated by librarians.  The program was designed to promote quality literature for teens by highlighting well-written books that will be on interests to that age level.

 

Scott O'Dell Award - Presented for historical fiction published by a U.S. publisher and set in the New World.
